Ultimate Watch Wishlist, October 2016

    Ultimate Watch Wishlist, October 2016

Hey guys! Today I'm gonna be showing you guys my updated watch wishlist for 2016. The last time I made a watch wishlist was over a year ago! And boy has my wishlist changed in a year. Some things stayed the same, but you'll see a lot of new pieces on my list. This list will go in order of how much I want the piece. So without further ado here's the list!

  1. Copernicus- Atlas
Here is a watch that was on my list last year, and it has returned for good reason. I am in love with this watch and the story behind it. I came really close to purchasing this watch recently, but decided against it for another watch (which I'll be blogging about later). Last year I featured a picture of the blue version of the Atlas model, but this year I am sticking with the classic black color. I think this piece is timeless and it could go with many outfits. I would personally wear it on more dressier occasions, but I think a casual outfit could be elevated with this piece. Overall this watch is the most obtainable for me at this time in my life.

     2. Rolex- Oyster Perpetual Datejust 41

This watch just recently sparked my interest, and I found the color way that I would get if I were to buy one. I love the silver bracelet and the grey dial color way of this particular watch. On my last watch wish list I had another Rolex watch, but I replaced it with this one as I think the DateJust is such a classic model and I think it could be worn in very fancy situations but also in very casual settings.

    3. Cartier- Tank Solo

You may recognize this watch from last years list. I still love this watch, but it has gone down the list. It is still one of my favorite watches, but not my number one anymore. I would love to buy one eventually, possibly a vintage one. I prefer it in silver, but the gold ones have a great vintage look to them.

    4. Audemars Piguet- Jules Audemars Extra Thin

Here's a new one! This watch just recently got on my radar and I'm in love! This watch is in rose gold, with a  black dial. I think this watch is so slick. I usually don't go to rose gold watches, but this watch does it perfectly. It's not obnoxious, as some rose gold watches can come off very tacky. This watch features a crocodile leather band, which adds to the beauty of the piece.

Thanks for reading! I hope you guys are enjoying these watch posts. I'm gonna plan to do more mens fashion and interior design posts. Let me know in the comments what you guys what to see from me! Also make sure to follow me on my social media down below!

Watch collection 2016

Watch collection 2016

Hey guys! Sorry I've been gone for what seems like ages, but lets not harp on that ;) Today I have a new blog for you guys! It's an updated watch collection! My collection isn't huge, but it unique, curated and well loved. Also, along with this blog, I will do an updated watch wish list! A lot has changed on my wish list and I can't wait to show you guys!  So anyway, onto the collection! Enjoy!

The first watch I'm going to be talking about is my Michael Kors Brockton Blue Dial Black Leather Strap Chronograph watch. I know, there is a stigma against Michael Kors in the fashion industry, but I adore this watch! It is so versatile and it goes with many outfits in my wardrobe! I've had this watch for over three years now and I must say that it has held up very well. The color of the dial fits into my wardrobe very easily as it is a dark blue. This watch features a faux croc leather band, which makes the watch have a more fancy feel, but I don't hesitate to wear it casually.

The second watch that I have in my collection is my Jack Spade Pillow Tank, Sutherland watch. So I got this watch almost two years ago, and well I've had a rocky relationship with it. I love the style of it, as it has a really cool vintage look, but there are a few drawbacks. The first drawback is the strap. This is my only major problem with the watch. So the strap is a brown leather strap with this faux gator look to it. I love that part of it, as I didn't have a brown leather strap watch, but the strap on this watch is absolutely too stiff. It's so stiff that after wearing it for almost two years, the leather has cracked and is looking pretty beat up. Its really unfortunate, but I'm actually thinking of purchasing a new leather strap for the watch that won't look so beat up. Overall this watch is really cool and has a vintage look that really adds to any outfit.

The third watch that I'm going to be talking about is my Versace watch. I got this watch last November for my birthday and I have loved it since! Since the first time I laid my eyes on the watch I loved its edgy, fancy and elegant look. It is a silver watch with a black dial, but the dial is made with a slight pattern. Also the bezel on this watch is different, as it incorporates a classic Versace motif. I have not had any problems with this watch and in a few months I will have had it for a year, and I plan on having it for many more to come! Also this watch has the best packaging of all of my watches.

Thank you guys for reading my blog this week! I'm gonna try to write more blogs since I have a lot more free time and I want to keep all of you in the loop. There are some upcoming watch blogs that I will be writing along with interior design posts. I have a few major things that will be happening in the coming months that I will definitely be writing about. So keep an eye out! Best Affordable Watches

Best Affordable Watches

Hello everyone! I wanted to write about the best affordable men's watches that you may want to get for people as gifts. I have previously wrote about watches so make sure to go back and read those! So anyway I will start from the most affordable and work my way up, but I am making sure to keep the prices under one hundred dollars. All the links to these watches will be down bellow.  I hope you all enjoy my picks, and comment down bellow with what you think about these watches! So here we go!

1. Timex 'Easy Reader':
This has to be one of my favorite affordable watches for men. I have reviewed this watch before (click here) and I highly recommend this watch for anyone that is looking for an affordable, quality gift. I actually gave my Timex watch to my brother as he really liked it, and I already had two other watches. My favorite feature of this watch is the illuminated dial. Yes you read that correctly. The dial lights up, which is very convenient, as the grey version of this watch is very hard to read in the dark. this is an amazing watch for any man in your life!

2. Vince Camuto Leather Strap Watch:
This next watch is from Vince Camuto. I usually would not choose Vince camuto for watches, but this watch is great for the price! It comes in at ninety five dollars, which is not a bad price for what you are getting. It has a classic design to it, with a black dial and silver bezel. It features a black leather strap, which gives it a luxurious feel for the price! There are other color variations to this watch, and one in particular is the gold version. It has a vintage look for the vintage lover in your family!

3. Nixon Metal Time Teller Watch:
So this next watch is from the brand Nixon. I have come close to buying a Nixon watch so many times! I love the vintage look that they have, and I think they do gold very well. They come in at a very affordable price, and I think that a Nixon watch can last you for ages! The older they get, the better they look!

Watch Review: Timex 'Easy Reader'

Watch Review: Timex 'Easy Reader'

Hey Guys! I really wanted to review this watch that I have recentley purchased. I first saw this watch on the Nordstrom website some months back, and I instantley knew I wanted to own this watch. After months of debating whether or not to buy it, I finally decided to order it. I will say that this watch is very affordable. It is currently sixty five dollars on the Nordstrom website and thats an amazin price for such a modern watch. The watch is not the best quality, but it is made well enough that it wont break easily. One of my favorite aspects of this watch is the color! My favorite color is grey, so this taupe-y, grey color is just perfect. When I was reading reviews of this watch online, a common problem amongst people was that you could not see the face of the watch at night, since the numerals are the same color as the face of the watch. This is not a problem because the face of the watch illuminates! Yes it illuminates! All you have to do if press on the dial to make it illuminate! All in all, this watch is definetley worth the price, at under one hundred dollars. Let me know in the comments what other reviews you would like to see in the future!

Stone Furniture

Stone Furniture

Recently I acquired a piece of furniture that really got me excited. Its a vintage marble coffee table! I have seen this piece for years in the my great aunt and uncles home, and finally I decided to take it off their hands as they are moving into a condo. I love the fact that the colors are very modern with the black and white, and the fact that the slab of marble is not attached to the ugly green base. This means that I can buy some cool MCM table legs. I just envisioned this piece in my future Chicago apartment! With dark grey walls and black leather furniture, I could really make it work! Let me know what you guys think about this diamond in the rough!

Old vs. New Construction

 Old vs. New Construction

I've been thinking a lot about home lately, well more than usual. One thing I have been thinking about was the differences between new construction(NC) and old construction(OC). When I think of NC, my mind goes to some tacky early 2000's homes with the carpeting and the bright maple banisters, Gross! Now if you love in a NC, don't feel bad about it, there are many ways to enhance your house to make it feel like a home. The first thing I would recommend is to paint! Yes paint! I can't tell you how many times I will just see paint white walls in a house. If you want some fun in your home, add some color because it adds personality to your home and makes it feel like someone lives there. Flooring g is another big part of your home that should reflect you personality. If you have white carpet and linoleum throughout your home, that doesn't say much about yourself, unless you really like white carpeting and linoleum. I totally understand if you cannot change the flooring in your home, perhaps you are renting or you don't have the money to replace it, in that case make the best of it by adding cosmetic changes. For one, if you have boring tile or linoleum, add decorative rugs. If you are stuck with gross old carpet, make the best of the situation, get it steam cleaned and enjoy what you have. Perhaps the most important part of making a house feel like a home, is the decoration and furniture. You want your home to represent you and what you stand for. If you don't like beige couches, then don't buy beige couches. If you don't like modern furniture, them don't buy modern furniture. You home is a statement of you. When buying furniture, many people think that you have to decorate your home the way the house looks like when you buy it. That is not true at all! I have seen tons of modern home decorated with antique pieces, and visa versa. But the only way to make this work is by decorating your house in a way that will make everything flow.

Furry Blankets

 Furry Blankets

Since I am home today, feeling sick, I wanted to write you all a blog about something that has been on my mind lately, fur blankets! While I only own one faux fur blanket from Restoration Hardware, I am definitely not opposed to expanding my collection! While I own a faux fur blanket, I am not against real fur in any way. I believe its a personal preference. There are many options for fur blankets in many different stores, in many different styles and designs. Perhaps one of my favorites would be the Adrienne Landau fur blankets offered at Neiman Marcus. While I cant afford to spend over 1k on a single blanket, there are many great alternatives offered in almost every store! I would recommend going to Restoration Hardware, as they have many awesome colors. They did discontinue the one that I own, the amazing grey color, but always check the outlet store, if there is one near you because they have lots of amazing things there. So Check out pretty much any store for cool options of fur blankets. Make sure to comment, and check out my other blog posts.
Love this one!

Black Dinnerware

Black Dinnerware

A couple of days ago, I saw some amazing black crystal dinner glasses at my local TJ Maxx, and that has inspired me to make a post about black dinnerware. I think that black dinnerware adds a sense of masculine elegance to a home. It also incorporates a modern touch to any dinner party.

The first set I found were octagonal dinner sets. I like these because they have an interesting look to them as they are an unusual shape and they are modern yet classic.

The second black dinnerware I found were these amazing glasses. These incorporate so much elegance but yet have a modern touch with the color choice. These also come in white, if you are looking for more a clean nautical decorated dinning room. Please leave me comments below.

Thrift Find Of The Day #3

Thrift Find Of The Day #3

So for my third thrift find of the day, I'm gonna show you guys this awesome old valet chair! So I found this piece at my local goodwill a few weeks ago. I was just browsing the furniture section, when this awesome vintage chair just jumped out at me! At first I didn't know what it was, or what you do with it, but after some research I discovered it was a men's valet chair. Unfortunately it did not open in the stool part, but it still had the original manufacturers note on the bottom! So I'm not really sure what to do with it, I was thinking that I could maybe just make it a stool, since it has that awesome MCM look to it. So let me know what you think I should do with it!

Transformation Tuesday: Furniture Addition

Transformation Tuesday: Furniture Addition

Before/After

For my first transformation Tuesday, I am going to show you guys this awesome old Mid Century Modern (MCM) foot stool that I got for free from my great aunt and uncle for free! So I found this amazing piece while up in the attic of my great aunt and uncles house. I was up there just looking around because they said that they want to get rid of a bunch of stuff, since they are down sizing from their huge Chicago bungalow, to a considerably smaller condo. Anyway, I was exploring upstairs when I saw this amazing old foot stool just sitting there in the corner. I have seen that thing up there all my life, considering it has been up there for 30+ years, but until that moment, I have never really though much of it. When I really looked at it, I saw that it needed a lot of work and would take some time and money to really fix it up and bring it back to life. When I found it, the leather off the top had started to rip, and the old stuffing had started to smell really bad considering it had been up in a stuffy attic for all of its life.

So I took it home that day, and I started to get to work immediately. First I took all of the leather and stuffing out of it, which left me with just a board and four legs. For a while I did not know what I was going to do with it, since I had never re-done a stool before, so I just started to look for large pieces of foam online, which I found one on eBay. You can also get large pieces of foam at Joann's, but it is more expensive than eBay. So after that I thought about what fabric I wanted to use for quite some time, when i found this awesome chevron print burlap! Before that I was considering many different options of fabrics, from black and white stripes to magna print fabric. Overall I'm glad I picked the chevron print burlap, but I do wish that it was a softer form of burlap and not so rough. I saved the old board from the original stool which saved time and money, next I just traced the shape of the board onto the piece of foam, and simply cut it out with a knife. then I simply upholstered it, which you can find a video of how to do that online. For the legs, I know I didn't want to keep them that old brown color, I wanted to give the piece a new life and a fresh start. So I sanded them down, not all the way. Next I primed them with my flat grey primer, then did a layer of semi-gloss black paint on them. I decided to preserve the color of the base of the legs, and keep its aged gold color. I think it adds some character to the piece, and mixes the old with the new, to give it a fun look. After the legs dried, I screwed them onto the upholstered base and I was done! overall this project was a lot easier than it seems. So now I just have to find a MCM chair that I can upholster in grey velvet and make a pillow to match the stool and I"ll have a set.
