Book Review: Tick Tock by Dean Koontz

Book Review; Tick Tock by, Dean Koontz

I just finished reading Tick Tock by Dean Koontz over this past weekend, and the reason that it took me a few months to finish it, was because of how slow paced and dull it was. Now don't get me wrong i am a huge Dean Koontz fan and having a few dozen books of his in my collection, i was really looking forward to reading this one, because of how interesting the plot seemed. When I started the book, I pushed through about the first 80 pages, which consisted of background information about the main character. I have experienced books with an abundance of background information, but this one takes the lead with the most. The story line was promising, but failed to deliver for me. The book had a few good parts, but none that moved me in any which way. the idea of a killer doll seemed very interesting to me, but fell flat after the long drawn out story beat it to death. Maybe I was expecting too much out of the book, I am almost immune to all forms of horror, few thing "scare" me or even "creep" me out. I was hoping for a more ghost like supernatural story with this book, when what I got was a monster with an even more monstrous reasoning behind it. I'm not going to spoil the plot, but the ending was a huge let down for me. Dean Koontz took it in a direction that the story really did not need. Overall the pointless dialogue and the absurd reasoning behind the story line lead me to give this book a 5/10. The Reason I am even giving this book a 5 out of 10 is because I found the one character, Del to have an interesting back story, but other than that, I did not get much else out of the story. I especially did not get any scares out of it.
